Our church history
Our church had the honor of being shepherded by Pastor Woody and Apples Calvary for nearly 20 years. Pastor Woody and Apples had a heart for souls and to minister to other Pastors. Their plan was to handover the church to their son in law and daughter, Raymond and Veronica Delgado, so that they can focus on the Office of Evangelism. However, before the plans could commence Pastor Woody Calvary made his triumphant entry into heaven, on September 22, 2021. Through much prayer and leading of the Holy Spirit the church continued with what God had put in Pastor Woody’s heart, in giving the church over to the Delgado’s to lead. The Delgado’s also continued moving forward with Pastor Woody’s plans to transfer his church network from Praise Chapel Christian Fellowship to the Reach Church Network. this included changing the church name from Praise Chapel Azusa (PC Azusa) to Reach San Gabriel Valley (SGV). The Delgado’s have also integrated Reach SGV with being members of The Presence Driven Church Network, where Reach SGV vision and values have been developed and established. The church’s vision started in 2001 as Win, Mend, Build, Send. Then to Reach, Restore, Release but the vision that the Lord has given The Delgados, for Reach SGV, is to take people from a general relationship with God to a genuine relationship with God.
The Lord has given this church new networks, a new name, a new church location and new Pastors. God willing we would love to have you partner with us in this exciting journey of a genuine pursuit of reaching the San Gabriel Valley for Christ.
Pastors Raymond & Veronica Delgado
In December 2021, Raymond and Veronica Delgado became the official Pastors over Reach SGV. They have continued with the legacy that God gave Pastor Woody and Apples. Not only were Raymond and Veronica members of this church prior to transitioning as Pastors but they partnered with the vision and calling for this church and served side by side with Pastor Woody and Apples.
Pastors Raymond and Veronica both grew up in church, Veronica grew up a Pastors Kid and both Raymond and Veronica grew up in the same Church fellowship but did not meet until 2011, through Pastor Woody Calvary (Pastor Veronica’s dad). When Pastor Raymond and Veronica met they both loved serving in ministry through missions and both had served, separately, overseas. The Delgado’s have been married since 2013. They have experienced their share of pain, loss and grief, with Pastor Veronica’s dad passing in 2021 and Pastor Raymond’s mom passing in 2024, but their passionate pursuit of pleasing the Lord keeps them focused, intentional and purposeful in their call to shepherd the hearts of God’s people.
What makes Reach SGV different from other local churches is the vision, which is to take people from a general relationship with God to a genuine relationship with God (Exodus 33:11a). The Lord gave The Delgado’s this vision (purpose) because of their encounters with ministering to people throughout the years, they noticed how common it was for people to know of God but not have a personal relationship with God. So, when the invitation to Pastor came to them they asked the Lord why he wanted this church to continue going on rather than close it down and that is when the Lord told them to build this church so that people can be genuine with God and know him personally. So that is where the vision was birthed. That has been the call and purpose that God has put on the house of Reach SGV, to teach people to genuinely know God. When you get to know Pastors Raymond and Veronica you will quickly learn that it is in their heart because they are both genuine and intentional people, who love God and desire to please him.
God has given Pastor Raymond and Veronica the purpose of being shepherds according to God’s own heart and to feed the flock with God’s knowledge and understanding with a heart focused on pleasing God not man.
Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding. - Jeremiah 3:15
“But Just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.” - 1 Thessalonians 2:4
